About Changes: Changes Bristol is a mental health charity that provides peer support meetings for adults who suffer mental distress. Anyone over 18 who suffer or have suffered mental distress can access the meetings and benefit from the support on offer. We currently run 9 meetings every week at the same time and place in different locations around the city of Bristol. The meetings are all facilitated by 2 trained volunteers who have lived experience and ensure the meetings are safe, confidential, empathetic and non-judgemental. The meetings last 2 hours and are structured meetings where people have a chance to talk about their issues and learn from others who have similar experiences. The meetings also incorporate educational learning through our Steps to Mental Health to help people cope with their symptoms. All our meetings are free to attend and there are no waiting lists. Anyone who is able to understand social signals and is able to converse in a group setting can benefit from the meetings.
Who the group is for: Adults with mental health problems.
What the group offers: We currently run nine support meetings a week, four in the evening and five in the day time every weekday. We also run a Mindfulness drop in every two weeks and a Wellbeing activity group every Monday in partnership with St Werburgh’s City Farm. We also provide some workshops.
